Current and Ongoing Projects

Call for NYC Teaching Artists…

I am a student at New School University embarking on an oral history project regarding teaching artists in high needs schools in New York City. If you or anyone you know fits this project and would be interested, please contact me to set up an in-person interview time. These interviews will not be conducted by phone.

The interviews will be made public as podcast episodes. Each teaching artist will have a
picture of themselves posted along with their interview and a link to their personal websites or art work if they wish.

What to expect from me:

I can come to your home on a weekend or you can meet with me in Manhattan at New School University. If in your home, I will bring a laptop and recording device and will just need a quiet spot to record you and a place to plug in the laptop. I will gladly listen as long as you want to talk, but I need at least an hour of your time.

This will not be a journalistic style interview with an agenda. For this project, I simply want to know everything you will tell me about your experience with the artists-in-the-schools programs around New York City high needs schools and or students. There is also a biographical component in these interviews, so I will ask you a little about your life outside the teaching environment. You’ll be required to sign a release, saying I can broadcast or reprint our interview.

Timeframe and Availability:

The first portion of this project will need to be completed in the next few weeks (this semester). So for me the sooner the better.

Please let me know your availability and an e-mail address and phone number where I can reach you. Weekends are best for me as I work full time and am in school in the evenings.

I look forward to hearing from you.
